Theoretical description of high-order harmonic generation in solids

چکیده
We consider several aspects of high-order harmonic generation in solids: the effects of elastic and inelastic scattering, varying pulse characteristics and inclusion of material-specific parameters through a realistic band structure. We reproduce many observed characteristics of high harmonic generation experiments in solids including the formation of only odd harmonics in inversion-symmetric materials, and the nonlinear formation of high harmonics with increasing field. We find that the harmonic spectra are fairly robust against elastic and inelastic scattering. Furthermore, we find that the pulse characteristics can play an important role in determining the harmonic spectra. 7 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Time Frequency Analysis of Higher Harmonic Generation in a Three Color Laser Pulse
high harmonic generation is a useful tool for the generation of short, intense attosecond pulses. In order to simulate high harmonic generation, we performed a numerical solution to the time dependent Schrödinger equation. by considering dipole approximation, we predicted generation of a 53 attosecond pulse. In order to see the time and frequency of emission of attosecond pulse, we exploit...
متن کاملTheoretical analysis of high-harmonic generation in solids.
We investigate theoretically high-harmonic generation (HHG) in bulk crystals exposed to intense midinfrared lasers with photon energies smaller than the band gap. The two main mechanisms, interband and intraband HHG, are explored. Our analysis indicates that the interband current neglected so far is the dominant mechanism for HHG. Saddle point analysis in the Keldysh limit yields an intuitive p...
متن کاملQuasi-phase matching and characterization of high-order harmonic generation in hollow waveguides using counterpropagating light.
We review recent experimental and theoretical work on the use of counterpropagating light to enhance high-order harmonic generation through all-optical quasi-phase matching. Also presented is a new technique for measuring the coherence of high harmonics in the nonlinear medium. This information is crucial for understanding the process of harmonic generation over extended distances, as well as f...
متن کاملNano-antenna-assisted harmonic generation
We report on low-order harmonic generation utilising the plasmonic field enhancement in arrays of rodtype gold optical antennae. Furthermore, we examine their suitability to support high-order harmonic generation (HHG). The low-order harmonics are used as a tool to investigate the nonlinear properties of the antennae. Particular attention is paid to the thermal properties, which become signific...
متن کاملHigh-Order Harmonic-Wave Generation of Ultrasonic Shear Waves
The high-order harmonic-wave generation of ultrasonic shear waves has not yet been studied. We generated high-order shear harmonic waves and studied them in terms of the nonlinear wave mechanism associated with strain waves. When the shear waves propagated through highly dissipative MnCu20Ni5Fe2, TiNi, and Sn-3Al specimens and were reflected from the far side of the specimen, we observed high-o...
